Colby Michael Knaub
Our cute baby boy joined our family on 4/4/14. I was induced a week early. I was glad too because I was so swollen I could only wear flip flops. Those aren't exactly work dress code appropriate. :) The night before I was induced we took Jordyn up to Mike's parents house to have a sleep over. We knew we had to be at the hospital early the next day and didn't want to have to deal with waking her up and taking her somewhere. After we dropped her off we headed to my parents house so Mike and my dad could give me a blessing. I love the way it calms me and helps me to know that everything will work out the way it needs to. We ran a few last minute errands and then went home to pack and finish getting the house ready for a new baby. Friday morning, the 4th, we headed to the hospital about 6:45 am. We got all checked in and into our room. The nurse got me all hooked up to IVs and then checked to see if I was dilated. After not being able to find my cervix, she called in another nurse and they concluded I was at a 5. I was shocked. The week before my doctor said I was barely a 1. They called my doctor and she came and confirmed that I was at a 5 and then she broke my water. They started me on Pitocin and then I layed there for an hour not so comfortable. I have no desire to have a baby natural and since I was already at a 5 the pitocin worked fast and I was feeling pretty painful contractions for a while. I finally got my epidural around 10:15 and then they checked me and I was fully dilated. They called my doctor and got everything all set up and around 11:30 I started pushing and I pushed through 4 contractions (10 Min) and he was born at 11:42. The nurses took him over to clean him up and weigh him. He was 7 pounds 11 ounces. Well probably a little more but he peed and pooped all over the nurses right before they weighed him. He was 18 and 3/4 inches long and had the most beautiful shaped head. They took him to the nursery right after that because he was "gasping" and they wanted to do x-rays to make sure nothing was wrong. When they did the blood tests they found that he had elevated white blood cell counts that meant that he might have an infection. His CRP number was at 21. It is supposed to be below 1. So they started him on IV antibiotics right away. They said he had to have 36 hours of the antibiotics to see if the number would drop below 1 and he wouldn't have an infection. They ended up having to put an IV in his head because he pulled the other one out of his hand. Then on Saturday night they said he was starting to look yellow and had Jaundice so they made him sit under the lights that night. I was discharged on Sunday night but because he hadn't finished his antibiotic we had to stay till Monday. On Monday we found his CRP number was at 5 and they wanted to do 1 more day of antibiotics to see if it would drop below 1 and if it did we could go home but if it didn't then he would need to stay in the hospital for 7 full days of antibiotics. The next day his number was 2.99 so we had to stay. I was devastated. My emotions were high with hormones and I was going crazy sitting at the hospital and I missed my baby girl! I was kinda a mess. The doctor that was watching over Colby came in and put it into perspective for me. She said if we had gone home we would have been back with a very sick baby a week later or he would have just died at home. I am so grateful they found that he had an infection and they were treating it the right way because his numbers got better each day. So once we knew we were staying for the week, we started planning out our days. Mike luckily took the week off to be home with me and the kids so he was able to be home with Jordyn. But when he needed a break from her and I needed a break from the hospital we switched kids. I felt weird about just leaving Colby in the nursery. He was totally fine during the day and just needed meds at night and in the morning. So we kept him in the room and just loved him and held him all day long. On Thursday morning we found out that his numbers were below 1 and we could head home Friday after his antibiotic. It was a long week but I am so grateful that we brought home a healthy baby. It took us a little while to adjust him to being at home. He was a really fussy baby and Jordyn didn't like all the crying. But after a few weeks we began to figure out the things that were bothering him and got him on some Zantak for his silent reflex. He is such a sweet baby and we are so grateful to have him home and happy! Here are some pics from his first weeks of life:

February
We celebrated our 5th Anniversary this February. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of us. We had a fun night Jordyn free and went to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and then walked around Gateway and went to to Trader Joe's. Jordyn slept over at Grandma's so we were excited to get a full night sleep. (Jordyn had been struggling at night) I can't believe that it has been 5 years. I love my life with Mike and am so grateful to be with him for eternity. A few days later we took Jordyn to her first U of U Gymnastics meet. Grandma Cat was judging and my work got us some good seats. She thought it was fun but got bored pretty fast and just wanted to play on the stairs... which she got in trouble for. I loved going to these meets as a child and I was so excited to pass that onto Jordyn.

First Day of Sunbeams
So excited that Jordyn is old enough to be a Sunbeam. Not that I don't love nursery but I am so glad she is out of there. She has wanted to be in Primary for the last little while because I am in the presidency so she wants to be where I am. She is the littlest little sunbeam because of her December birthday but she did great and LOVES going every week. She is so cute sitting on the front row singing all the primary songs. I love watching her learn more each week.

December Catch Up!
We had a busy an fun December. Mike Graduated from Weber State University. We are so excited that he is finally done with school and Jordyn has become quite attached to him being home every night after work. We went to a hard hat ceremony for all the guys in the Construction Management degree that were graduating. It was a nice dinner and was fun to listen to some Alumni and hear where they headed after graduation. The Graduation was the next week. We are so grateful for the love and support that our parents gave us through the whole process. It was good to have them at the ceremony with us.
Then a few days later we celebrated Jordyn's 3rd Birthday. Jordyn is our little princess and she knows it. She has such a fun personality and loves to make up stories and explore her imagination. We celebrated with the Bennion family the week before with a dual My Little Pony party with Shelby and Jordyn. They are cute cousins/friends! We took them to build a bear to build a pony. They both built Rainbow Dash.
Then we celebrated with the Knaub family the day before her birthday. She wanted a Curious George Cake. It was fun the make and she had a blast opening her presents and playing with cousins.
Then the next day on her birthday she opened presents then I took the day off to go and have fun. We started the day at the bounce house and then went to Jamba Juice for a smoothie and then we went to see Frozen with Zac and Lizzy. It was a great day and we love our cute 3 year old!
Here are some of her cute 3 year old pics! Not sure how she grew up so fast!!
And last but not least we had a wonderful Christmas. We were spoiled by our families and enjoyed spending time together. (We spent Christmas eve with my family but for some reason I don't have any pictures...)
And that's the end of 2013...
